I am so excited to start my 27th year of teaching! It is wonderful to be back and see all of the students again.
Here are few things we are working on the first few weeks of school. Kindergarten is going through Bookworm School and learning how to take care of books when they are checked out. We read The Library Doors to explain some things they will be doing in library this year. First Grade is reviewing book care and will be checking out next week. We read The Best Book to Read and talked about our favorite books. We drew and colored a picture of our favorite book. Second Grade discussed what a good deed was and shared several with our teammates. We read Ordinary Mary's Extraordinary Deed. They then got to decorate their shelf saver and check out 2 books! Third Grade read The Boy Who Was Raised by Librarians. Then they shared what they like about the library with their teammates in a RoundRobin. They decorated their shelf saver, checked out 2 books and read quietly. Fourth Grade did a Breakout Box activity with the book Oh the Places You'll Go. They had to search for clues around the library to find the combinations for 4 different locks. After they had opened all of the locks they found their shelf savers inside. They got to decorate these and check out 2 books! We all had a lot of fun.
