We learned about the Olympic sport of Bobsledding this week. We watched a short video of the U.S. Olympic Bobsledding Team. Students learned what kinds of things it takes to do this sport. Kindergarten and First Grade also read the book, Tacky and the Winter Games.
Next week we will start our author study of Judy Young. She is coming to our school on March 7!

4th Grade
We read the book, But I Read It On the Internet. We discussed how to find reliable Internet sources. We discussed questions we should ask about the site to determine if it was an accurate site to use for research. 3rd Grade We read the book, The Technology Tail. We discussed what kinds of things should be posted online. We used THINK-T-is it True?, H-is it Helpful?, I-is it Inspiring?, H-is it Helpful?, K-is it Kind?. If we can answer yes to all of those questions, then it is a good post. If not, then we should delete! 2nd Grade We read the Show-Me Nominee, Trombone Shorty. This is an autobiography about the life of Troy Andrews. We watched a short video of him playing his trombone. We then made our own instruments-maracas! 1st Grade We read the book, Finding Winnie. Then we talked about how this book related to our book last week, Fur, Fin and Feathers. The London Zoo is where Abraham Bartlett worked to create natural habitats for all of the animals. This was the reason that Harry, felt so comfortable leaving Winnie at the zoo while he was at war. Kindergarten We read, There's a Giraffe in My Soup. Then we looked at the live animals cams at the San Diego Zoo. |
